Donna M. Angers
Oil, pencil, and charcoal Portraits
Donna M. Angers hails from New Brunswick, NJ, moving to California in 1962. Though she always exhibited talent in Art, earning top grades in the subject throughout High School, she, instead followed careers as a Medical Transcriber and a secretary for the USAF in El Segundo, CA. Nevertheless, Donna continued her studies, taking art courses along with her career-related education at El Camino College. Just before retirement, an invitation to visit Otis College of Art and Design led to her enrollment and a subsequent BFA, with honors, in 2007.
Both paintings in Ms. Angers' graduating class art show sold--the first step in an ongoing, successful exhibition record which includes The Found Gallery, in Silverlake, The Charles Bibbs Gallery, in downtown Los Angeles, and The William Grant Still Art Center, in Los Angeles. Ms. Angers has recently been commissioned to create a painting for the African American Art Museum. She has also been invited to teach at a new, Charter elementary school in 2009.
Ms. Angers says her joy is in capturing upon canvas the spirit within a person.
