Bea Gold reports:  I have been working for the past couple of years, writing one page stories about my childhood and teens in the 30s and 40s.  I have completed 36 stories, which were the number I planned for and I have also completed 36, 9” x 12” paintings to illustrate each story.  Two groups of 12 stories and paintings were exhibited in two Silver Lake Art Collective shows and were well received by people reading the stories and seeing the illustrations.  I have an additional group of 12 sets to show when appropriate.  I have been working with a story editor and she has been skillfully editing each story.  That work is almost finished.  Meanwhile, I have been visualizing a Coffee Table Book made of the 36 sets of story and painting which I hope will be published this year. Some people have asked for first copies and if you are interested please let me know and I'll add you to the list.

Dave Matke created artwork for Act III of the new Lithuanian opera , "Karalius be Karunos" (King without a Crown). His 8-ft  painting, an interpretation of the Mosaic Mary statue at the Marienburg fortress of the Teutonic knights, was part of the backdrop for the opera, along with his various wooden crosses. Act III was presented at the Lithuanian National Center on Saturday October 24th 2009 and sponsored by the Lithuanian Credit Union. The opera, by Paul Trimakus, featured many talents, including " Retro " the Lithuanian dance group.

CBS television studios purchased one of Dave’s paintings for the show, NCIS-LA. The painting was one of Dave's "Pensive Christ's"  (Rupintojelis) pieces and it was used as set design.

Dave is currently working on new work for a future show with renowned Lithuanian artist, Sigitas Sniras at a time to be decided in the future.
