Patsy Cox was born in 1973 in Ubon Ratchatani, Thailand. She
received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Ceramics from
Missouri State University and her Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics and
Sculpture from the University of Delaware.
Patsy exhibits
locally, nationally and internationally. She was a Getty Scholar
Linking Service Learning and the Visual Arts and has served on the
board of The National Council for the Education of Ceramic Art as a
Director at Large. She is currently an Associate Professor of Art and
Head of the Ceramics area at California State University, Northridge.
Her inspiration is derived from science, culture, the natural world
and urban sprawl. Her most current work embodies mutations, hybrids,
growth, and cross-pollination. Multiple forms stand as individual
pieces and also parts of a cohesive whole. When her pieces are grouped
together, it's not clear where one begins and the next one ends, which
is the original and which is the mutation.
